New week, new theme (till i change my mind eventually) sculpture is in order. I love playing the mid field between art and design, not just making clean line sculptures or making contemporary art inspired designs... i like to take it another step, and give function to otherwise pointless art. Here is my ceramic sculpture which is also a chouriço grill, it's a huge and heavy piece of white clay.
This piece is a hardcore/kitsch concentrate of my Portuguese heritage. I always found awkward to use one's nationality as a theme (i find nations to be just another system of segregation) but the cultural aspects are still part of my identity. So once I was appointed to do a clay piece, immediately i grasped the chance to put it all out in one just too Portuguese piece.
